The Passing of Shyamdas Prabhu.

shyamdas

“He reasons ill who tells that Vaisnavas die, when thou art living still in sound! The Vaisnavas die to live, and living try to spread the holy name around!”

—Bhaktivinoda Thakur.

The exact details remain unclear, but as reported by The Bhakti Beat and other sites, HG Shyamdas Prabhu, has left his material body.

In the spirit of the bliss he brought to all who had the pleasure of his association, and for all those who won’t have the chance in this lifetime, we remember him as he lived: Devoted and in song.

I live in Denver, CO where I maintain an active Ashtanga practice, in addition to a bodywork practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Yoga forms the cornerstone of my life in all aspects. It's how I eat, how I drink, how I sleep and how I chose all my choices. In addition to my Ashtanga practice, I am devoted to following the principles and precepts of bhakti-yoga as delivered through the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition. Here at elephant, I write and edit in addition to serving as the ele-ambassador for both the Ashtanga and Bhakti communities.

  3. Thank you Thaddeus, for sharing this. This is one of my most favorite memories of Shyamdas-Ji — in his glory, on stage, surrounded by friends, deep in the bhava and taking each and every one of us right along with us. For any who are interested, the full story of that magical evening with Shyam is here: http://thebhaktibeat.com/storytime-in-the-bhav-wi… Radhe Shyam… http://www.TheBhaktiBeat.com (and on facebook, twitter, YouTube, etc.)
