What Can’t Go Wrong?

The sun comes up every day.

Every day I invite love and healing into my heart.

Every day I take a moment to count the blessings of home, family and friends.

Every day I connect with a belief that life is sweet, people are good.

Every day it can be a challenge to remember these things.

In my world of yoga, we talk about how we forget and how we remember. We forget we are light, love and spirit. We forget our innate nature is goodness. We forget bliss and joy among the challenges of living.

We forget to celebrate each moment.

Today amidst my tears I got a note from someone who called me her hero. She made me laugh and I remembered to remember.

We say one of the aims of yoga is to alleviate suffering. Buddhism teaches the Eightfold Path to alleviate suffering. There is sickness, old age and death. Life’s only promise is change. And the only guarantee after we are born is that we die.

My teacher had a death experience and tells me we all go into the light.

I believed this before she told me. I had heard others affirm this. And does it not make sense, that all life is energy and light? And to come to this playground Earth we had to separate from light only to learn what we need to go back into it?

Isn’t it logical that if we’re made of love, we feel love, we need love more than any one thing? That if what inspires life is love, we return to love?

My teacher also says that there is light and an absence of light.

On days when my heart is heavy and I’m hovering in the absence of light, I work to remember what cannot go wrong—all life is experience and we don’t have to judge what happens as good or bad, right or wrong.

We just have to be present, let go of asking why and learn the answer is right here, right now, moment by moment.
