New Class in Boulder: Yoga for Dancers. {Partner} ~ Cassandra Smith

Yoga Pod has been offering yoga to elephant staff and friends for years. We are proud to partner with this wonderful studio of great teachers and warm community. ~ the Management

Hey Boulder! Love yoga? Looking for something fun to do on Wednesdays?

There’s a new class at Yoga Pod that I’ve been going to for three weeks that I love, and you should come.

It’s called “Yoga for Dancers” and it’s taught by the lovely and lively Linzee Klinkenberg. It is not just for dancers, all are welcome, and the class is primarily yoga based. But, she plays great dance music (Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake) and every once in a while throws in a few jazzy dance moves to the beat of the song.

I think it is modifiable so that yogis and dancers of all levels could benefit from it, and Linzee explains everything so that people who have had experience with neither won’t feel overwhelmed. And yes, there have definitely been men in every class, so don’t be shy.

What you need to know:

  • Where: Yoga Pod, 29th Street Mall
  • When: Wednesdays 7:15-8:15 p.m.

Here are more details from Yoga Pod:

About Linzee:

“Boulder native Linzee Klikenbergs’ love of movement and intrinsic understanding of body mechanics are showcased in her work as a professional dancer and certified personal trainer, bootcamp and yoga instructor. Linzee’s diverse background serves to create a dynamic blend of Yoga, Sports Conditioning, and Dance.

Linzee earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA. She has taught and choreographed for the Boulder Ballet, Interweave Dance Theatre, 40 Women Over 40, the University of Washington, Cornish Dance Theatre.”

More about the class:

“Dancers are renowned for their flexibility, balance, and grace. Often plagued with strength imbalances and injuries, dancers are particularly rewarded by Yoga’s rehabilitative and toning effects. The demands on dancer’s joints can create degeneration if not properly counteracted with restorative activity. Yoga, with its emphasis on low-impact, high-strength biomechanics, calls upon stores of self-healing and anatomical wisdom within one’s own body.”
