Sex, Drugs & Rock n’ Roll to MindBodySoul Maven.

Big Sur, CA

Once upon a time I worked as a stylist in the fashion industry.

During this time, I also worked at a vegan restaurant off Sunset Blvd. I had a jewelry line, made my own clothes and sang in a band; I used to wear heavy black eyeliner.

Once upon a time, I even wore pointy stiletto heels.

Some of you knew me during this period and we’re still friends! (What a time huh?) Damn those shoes were sexy, but I’m glad I sold all them Jimmy Choo’s cos they just ain’t the most comfy.

Cocaine and heroin were on heavy rotation and yes, I probably could have outdrank you any night of the week. Tequila and Jack Daniels used to be my best friends and we got even closer when Valium joined the party.

Drugs and alcohol used to be my breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Anorexic and bulimic, my life spinning out of control, OA, BA, AA, NA, SA, ABCDEFGA—yeah I’ve been there, done that.

Abused as a child in every way possible, left alone to fend for my survival.

To this day, I’m still surprised that I’ve survived.

Multiple suicide attempts that never fully crossed the line, obviously as I am still here.

Sexually abused, physically abused, hit and starved.

Ham on Rye by Bukowski was way too resonant; I don’t remember nearly 15 years of my childhood.

The human mechanism of the body and mind is so intelligent in the way it will block out memories to keep safe.

I was sad, depressed, lost, full of pain and suffering. I’ve got a dark history, I know—more than most will ever experience in their lifetime.

The photo above was taken by an ex-boyfriend in Big Sur, CA during the tail end of this time.

The moral of the story is: if I can change my life, so can you.

Have faith, keep do the inner work, seek help and support, keep going, don’t give up. Once your insides (mind/body/heart) are clean, life will present you with the most mystical and magikal surprises.

Spirit is very much real and there to give you everything you need on your journey. May my life be a living testament to you of this Truth.

Yoga teachers, healers, therapists, anyone working in the field of mind/body: be open about your history.

If you’ve got the mic, say something worth saying. You’re on this path because you felt the call to not only heal yourself, but assist in the process of healing the community as well as the planet.

The ‘I’m perfect and always was’ approach is so boring.

Show your students and clients how you’ve healed and got out of your pain and suffering. That earns more respect than being fake. Keep it real!

That is the point of why your job is your job. That has a way more massive vibratory effect that putting yourself on a pedestal—who cares about your image or what people are gonna say.

Let them talk.

What’s important is that you come back down to earth and stay here—it’s super sweet on earth.

Let’s talk to one another eye to eye. We’re all one yo, that’s the teaching. No separation, no hierarchy, we’re all one, no separation.

It’s 2013 and in the words of my friend, Bob, “I believe in energy and I believe the world is round.”

As a matter of fact, we’re all one.

This isn’t a slogan used in spiritual community, it’s a universal law and truth: we are all one.

Sending love and support.

Blessings.

chloe
