Okay, New Music Alert.

Image: Rhye on Tumblr.

This is our kind of love, friend. A hurt that doesn’t pinch, but drowns softly, creaking, rhythmic, the pressure, gasping for fresh air, the morning is far off.

This song, this video, makes me remember why I want to fall in love again. But without clinging, and with sadness that is pregnant with life and integrity, and taste and desire. This song makes me want to write (update: I wrote), and makes me appreciate love without putting it on a pedestal—and that’s the kind of love I remember, because it happens in life, not imagination.

I’m a fool for that shake in your thighs

I’m a fool for that sound in your sighs

I’m a fool for your barely

I’m a fool for your love

I wanna make this play

Oh, I know you’re faded

Hmm, but stay, don’t close your hands

I wanna make this play

Oh, I know you’re faded

Hmm, but stay, don’t close your hands

Caught in this pool held in your eyes

Caught like a fool without a line

We’re in a natural spring

With this gentle sting between us

I wanna make this play

Oh, I know you’re faded

Hmm, but stay, don’t close your hands

I wanna make this play

Oh, I know you’re faded

Hmm, but stay, don’t close your hands

Ooh, stay open

Ooh, stay open

Stay open

Stay open

I wanna make this play

Oh, I know you’re faded

Hmm, but stay, don’t close your hands

I wanna make this play

Oh, I know you’re faded

Hmm, but stay, don’t close your hands

Stay open

Stay open

Stay open

Hmm, stay open

Beware: this one’s equally wonderful, but mostly pretty much all deeply, cruelly sad, and all the more so for being so true to life.

We have many, many, many many many many, many prior roundups of songs we love. A few are here.

Bonus, an unofficial version via Rhye:

Bonus fact one: this song is coming from the mouth of a man.

Bonus fact two: there’s a narrative connection between the two videos.
