It may come as a surprise for such a meat-heavy culture, but Berlin has fashioned itself a glowing vegan scene. Having rapidly expanded over the last few years, the city has now become the go-to place for vegan lovers, offering everything from delicious brunches to haute cuisine.

Here are a few of our top picks that you simply can’t miss!

Café Vuxthe sweet tooth

If you’re after the perfect spot for a leisurely Sunday morning brunch, then Café Vux is the place for you. With a wholly vegan buffet selection of beans, grains, vegetables, spreads, breads and fruit, fill your plate with deliciously fresh food as many times as you can manage – but don’t forget to leave room for desserts! The vegan cakes, pastries and muffins at Café Vux are a must-have highlight.

Yellow Sunshinethe burger bar

With a menu that changes every week depending on both seasonal and regional products, Lucky Leek is serious about gourmet vegan cuisine. Located in the coolest suburb of Prenzlauerberg, this is a small but perfectly formed place where quality is everything. Once you’ve been astounded by the delicious food on offer, there’s a Lucky Leek cookbook for sale – meaning you can try to recreate the dishes yourself at home!

 Café Vthe vegetarian

A mix of both vegetarian and vegan fare, Café V is a must-try for your time in Berlin. With a range including vegan pizzas, salads and vegetable or tofu mains, the chickpea polenta dish comes highly recommended. Much more than just a place to eat, Café V makes for a supercool place to hang out, drink some organic wine and soak up the atmosphere. The menu is available in both German and English but remember to take cash because they don’t accept card.

Koppsthe traditional German

Managed by Björn Moschinski, one of Germany’s most noted vegan chefs, Kopps is an excellent example of German vegan food at its finest. Utilising seasonal ingredients for the tastiest of dishes, Kopps provides everything from lazy Sunday brunches to full-course meals – and presents everything beautifully to boot! Located in the bustling Mitte district, Kopps is sophisticatedly decorated and has a wonderful wine list for your enjoyment.
