Who says success has to be conventional? The uber-successful business people I admire have all taken an unconventional route and done things differently. Business leaders like Yvon Chouinard, Sheryl Sandberg, Richard Branson, and Gary Erickson are standouts from the back because of their strong convictions and willingness to buck criticism to pursue their beliefs.
I believe in biking (for a lot of reasons—having fun, environment stewardship, improving your health among others). I also believe in creating abundant business success and prefer to create it looking stylishly. These things are not mutually exclusive. Why does biking have to represent hippies, hipsters, or others in fringe groups? To me, biking is sexy (even more so than driving the latest Bugatti). In recent Bike Stylish article, from which the above photo was taken, I created a photo journal to prove you can bike in everything. I then followed it up with practical tips on how to get around your bike wearing anything. Who says you can’t be a millionaire and ride around in a suit on a bike instead of in a limo? Just look at JFK Jr. biking around NYC in the ‘90s. How are you maintaining a conventional habit, like driving your car everywhere, that you could shake up?
