Tripping. ~ Michael Murphy {Poem}

So often, we are gone before we leave.

The picking up, dropping off, checking lists,
and the restless night before.

Parts of ourself are shipped for early arrival.
They  go around on a horseless carousel,
waiting to be reunited.

Our feelings are mixed,
with the freedom and excitement of departure,
and anxiety of what we’re leaving behind.

And so, with such ease and efficiency,
we begin our early check-out
of where we have not yet arrived.

Wishing  you an exciting journey
I’ll be looking for parts of you before your return.

All my love,
Before, during and after.
