10 Yoga Poses to Improve Your Sex Life. ~ Claire Crawford

Yoga is all about the mind and body connection.

That said, sex is one of the greatest mind-body experiences. So, together the two can work wonders.

Yoga is designed to relieve stress and improve flexibility, increase blood flow and open your mind. All of these points can heighten your sex life. Yoga also teaches us to live in the moment and become fully aware.

In a recent Journal of Sexual Medicine study, researchers say that most women feel they have a problem remaining focused, and this could be linked to why women find sex boring or unemotional. By learning with yoga to better focus on a situation and relax, we can adapt this and use the same psyche to improve our sex lives.

Read on for a comprised list of top yoga poses to improve your sex life today!

Wide-Legged Straddle Pose (Upavistha Konasana)

For those with low libido this move is great. It is designed to improve blood flow to the pelvic area. Increased blood flow increases energy and vitality in that area. Studies have shown that improved pelvic circulation is linked to arousal. With increased blood flow you will heighten your state of enlightenment.

Shoulder Stand (Salamba Sarvangasana)

Your lower half of your body has a higher chance of having bad circulation due to the dynamics of gravity. Pumping blood back up to the heart from your lower limbs is not as easy as vice versa. You can tackle this problem by flipping your body upside down.  This move can calm the mind, reduce fatigue and ease digestive problems.

Child’s Pose (Balasana)

Too many women try and focus their mind on more than one thing at a time, when the mind is busy analysing ever last little detail going on around you it can severely impede your ability to relax. This pose can help you focus and relax. By learning to focus on the moment you will heighten your sensual experiences whilst having sex. The child’s pose is very soothing.

Lizard Pose (Utthan Pristhasana)

The Lizard pose is a great technique to improve flexibility of the hips and calm the mind. Taking long deep breaths while in this position, when you learn to focus on your breathing you instantly focus. By improving your focus you can make your sex sessions last longer.

Goddess Pose (Supta Baddha Konasana)

This one is great for reducing symptoms of PMS and menopause. Both of which are common causes of a reduced libido. This pose can also improve functioning of the reproductive organs. You will learn to become vulnerable with the Goddess Pose, being comfortable with vulnerability will encourage your sex life to become much more intimate.

Pigeon Pose (Eka Pada Rajakapotasana)

Pigeon pose is a good way to rid deep tension in the hips and really chill out your mind. Women generally tend to hold the majority of their tension in their hips. This pose can help relieve tightness and restore flexibility. This pose requires great relaxation and focus on your breathing. Try cycles of ten, long deep breaths in this position.

Downward Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana)

A peculiar name but an effective pose. Downward dog invigorates the mind and body, which are vital ingredients for good sex! You should feel the tension simply slipping away when doing this pose. Having your butt in the air also mimics the sex position that is “doggy style.”

Eagle Pose (Garudasana)

This move is plucked straight from the Kama Sutra. The idea here is to wrap one leg around the other like a rope, when you release the pose all of the blood will rush back into the cervix which will get the area ready for some affection. Although this move may look hard, with practice it is not as challenging as it looks.

Bridge Pose (Setu Bandha Sarvangasana)

Kegel exercises are designed to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles and improve bladder control in order to stop urinary continence. It has been discovered that Kegels offer many other benefits such as toning the vagina and improving orgasms. The bridge pose is similar to performing Kegel exercises because the focus is on contracting the same pelvic muscles.

Plow Pose (Halasana)

Plow Pose is designed to help you rejuvenate. This position increases blood flow to the brain which will wake you up and give you a second wind. With the positioning of your legs and head in this pose you’re looking at your hips, which subconsciously can be a great aphrodisiac.
