We often think you have to be a superhero to save the world, but that’s not really the case.

Once upon a time, maybe it was true that only the powerful or strong could do much to change the status quo. But today, we live in the information age. We almost literally have the world at our fingertips. We can look up anything on Wikipedia and become instantly informed, or peer into the farthest corners of the globe with Google Earth.

We can cheer ourselves up from a bad day with just a couple clicks and a cat video from Youtube.

But as we know from Spiderman, with great power, comes great responsibility. With all of this information so easy to access, we no longer have an excuse to ignore a crisis, even when it may be very distant from us. Even if we never meet the people suffering, we can help them, and we should.
