Blessings on the Path of Solitude.

heart love

God to man doth speak in solitude. ~  John Stuart Blackie

Something incredible happens when you begin to spend time alone. By turning to the Self on a regular basis—listening to what your soul desires and turning down the volume on the rest of the world’s perceived expectations of you—you open a channel to Source.

Like a long distance phone call from home, the Great Mystery from which you came—that miraculous creative power—begins speaking clearly in your daily life.

Creation is not in the business of making things that fail.

You have a unique purpose on this earth. Solitude is the only way to quiet down enough to hear what that purpose is. You’ll hear it directly from Source itself. You will begin to notice reflections of your most honest loves, your truest needs, in everything around you. Sometimes they’ll literally be flung right at you.

Love Letters From the Universe

When I was living in New Mexico in my late twenties, I felt restless. I knew I was not doing what my soul wanted to do, which at that time was to pursue the acting career I’d put on hold to move out west.

I spent a lot of time thinking about it, meditating on it, talking to myself about it nearly every day on my solo hour-and-fifteen-minute drive to work from Albuquerque to Santa Fe. One morning, as usual, the newspaper was flung onto my front step.

I opened it.

There, in a half-page ad, was a notice for local auditions for the summer program at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. Over the next two weeks, I got up at 6:00 a.m. and rehearsed monologues in my garage, preparing for a nerve-wracking 15-minute audition held at the Albuquerque Sheraton Inn.

I got into the program, packed up, and moved back to New York permanently. In my solitude, I had manifested exactly what I needed to move to the next level of my life. I call these confluences (like that newspaper showing up) Love Letters from the Universe.

These Love Letters can come in all forms, not just life-altering ones. Maybe every time you meditate in your alone time you see Monarch butterflies. The next day there’s a swarm of them outside your window. (Where did they come from? It’s not even June!) There’s no heavy significance to it; it’s the Universe’s way of saying, “I’ve got your back.”

In other words, keep up the Self time. It’s working for you.

And when you need something else, like a life change, the universe can help you with that, too. Just check in with Self, then put it out there.
