In the Beckoning of Love. {Poem}

Love isn't in the details.

They say,

love is in the details,
but it’s always more than that,
we know it is in the beckoning
of a smile

slowly spreading across your lips
until laughter fills up our space,
and we find no distraction
other than ourselves
unfolding into each other’s body,

a familiar twisting
into comfort, so your leg
rests on my thigh, and I pull
your arms around me,
my fingertips touch your birthmark
shaped like a buffalo,
and trace the blue river of a vein down your arm
to the delta of your fingertips
where we gather
our hands into one fist,

closing my eyes with your steady breath
gracing my ear,
I hear the rhythm of love
within the simplicity of being more than a daily detail.
