Why your New Mantra for Inner Peace Should Be: I Don’t Care.

Adapted with permission from Daily Transformations.

My new mantra for inner peace (and what I suggest yours should be too)? “I don’t care.”

Stay with me here. This isn’t about not caring for others, our planet, or what matters—it’s about something entirely different…

We don’t have to dig deep to read of the new unfolding of the feminine in all of us. Balanced feminine, rather than the femme fatale, weak and helpless.

For me? I got so tired of pushing myself to work, work, work, to exceed my own expectations and to get things done that I spun out in exhaustion, finally realizing this way of pushing, forcing, and trying to control my own outcome is outdated and unsustainable.

So I decided to walk my own talk and sink into the feminine.

Powerful feminine—as in doing what we need to do, and then letting go and letting things flow to us. Letting life birth through us.

Have you ever tried to catch a bug in a swimming pool? The more we push forward chasing after it, the faster it moves away from us—right? Well, life works the same way and this old paradigm of masculine pushing just isn’t sustainable anymore.

Just look at our world.

Aren’t you tired?

Aren’t you exhausted from trying to figure it all out?

I’m not saying we give up, stay in bed all day and do nothing—I’m suggesting we do what we need to do, and then let go a little and stop caring so damn much about how it all unfolds for us. (Dare I say, trust a little more?)

Take that walk. Take that nap. Let your kids go to school in unmatched clothes if you’re short on time, save the dishes until tonight—stop caring so damn much that you care yourself into a control freak.

Sit in nature. Contemplate. Don’t return that text or that call oh so fast. Drop the ball once in a while in lieu of your own sanity.

The hyper-vigilant, immediate-response-needed, perfect, driven, make-it-happen sort of world will be there when we come back to it.

And when you do dip your toe back into it for a bit, you’ll know better. You’ll be wiser. And, you’ll look younger.
