Healing Treatments to turn Brutal Winter Skin into Sexy Summer Skin. {Recipes}

sexy summer skin2

Most of us are just starting to show our skin again after the biting winter winds have kept us bundled in layers for the past four months.

Luckily, summer is just around the corner and with that the reality that more of our bodies will happily soon be on display! Not only do the trees and plants outside take a beating from a bad winter, but our skin can too and this year has been particularly brutal because of the extreme cold temperatures and lack of humidity.

It may be only spring but now is the time to start a new skin care regime so that once sandal and bathing suit weather arrives our skin will be in the best shape ever! Usually our faces get the most attention from, but it’s just as important to take care of the skin on the rest of our bodies too.

There are plenty of different brands of skin products offering to give us glistening smooth skin, but most of them contain chemicals, especially sulfates which aren’t only not good for our bodies, but for our environment.

The following recipes that are guaranteed to get you sexy summer skin now are for body and face treatments and need only a few ingredients from our kitchens. Talk about simple!

Coffee Body Scrub

>>> About 2 cups recycled or new (I prefer recycled) Coffee grounds

>>> 1 cup of Honey

>>> 2 tablespoons Coconut Oil

>>> 2 tablespoons of Cinnamon

>>> 1 tablespoon Raw Cocoa Powder

Mix all ingredients in a bowl, and then bring into the shower. (I keep mine in a plastic sealable container and make large batches at a time, and keep it in that until I am all out.) Wash your body with your regular routine. Once you’re rinsed off, turn off the shower water, take handfuls of the scrub mixture and scrub your entire body, from your face, to the soles of your feet.

Once it’s on, I tend to leave it on for a few minutes or so, and then rinse it off with warm water. Your skin will already have noticeable softness and smoothness, and the best part is your skin will smell delicious! I use this about once a week—even in the summer, it’s wonderful to use to keep you glowing! Pat dry and then follow with your regular moisturizer.

Variations: I’ve added dry lavender to this mixture as well, as well as crushed ginger. If you don’t have coconut oil, sunflower or olive oil can be used as well.

Benefits of ingredients:

Coffee is a natural stimulant so it will do the same for your skin; giving it a bit of caffeine and boosting blood flow all around which will have your skin glowing and looking radiant. The grounds are the perfect texture to scrub off any dead skin cells as well.

Honey is a natural antimicrobial agent, and has amazing moisturizing properties; it’s also known for its antiaging benefits as well.

Cinnamon and Cocoa Powder are both used for their benefits to improve circulation and help with any signs of aging.

Honey Body Treatment

>>> 2-3 cups of Honey

>>> 1/2 cup of Cinnamon

Mix the ingredients together in a bowl and cover your entire body with the mixture. This started as a facial, but I soon realized the skin everywhere on my body responded just as well, and so I started using it as a body treatment. Now, once you have covered your body with this treatment you have to let it sit for about 10 minutes, but no more than 20 (your body heat will warm up the honey and it literally will be dripping off, this I know from experience!)

I do this about once a week when no one is home! The results are fantastic. I usually will do this treatment first, hop into the shower or bath, wash it off, and then do the Coffee Body Scrub, followed by sesame oil, and my skin literally feels so silky soft and incredible!

Rinse off with warm water and follow with light oil like coconut or sesame to keep the moisture in your skin.

Benefits of Ingredients:

The honey is an antimicrobial so it will help clean and unclog pores, leaving your skin glowing. The cinnamon acts as an exfoliator and also contains antiaging properties that helps stimulate blood flow.

Yogurt Avocado Cooling Facial

>>> 1 ripe Avocado (refrigerated) cut into pieces

>>> 1 container of Organic Plain Yogurt

>>> 1 tablespoon of Honey

>>> 1 tablespoon of Coconut Oil

Place all ingredients into a small food processor and blend until the mixture is smooth, without many lumps. (This makes more than enough for just one facial so I usually will put it in a resalable container and keep it in the refrigerator until I can use it again.) I use a small brush to apply the cool green mixture to my skin starting on my forehead and working down, keeping away from eye areas, but still applying to the “crows-feet” area. I also apply to under my chin and neck areas as well.

It should have a nice cooling effect on the skin. Leave on about 10 to 15 minutes, and rinse off with warm water, pat dry and either apply your lotion or oil of choice or do the oil cleansing, using a mixture of almond, tee tree, rosehip, and argan oils. I use this facial often in the summer because of its moisturizing and cooling properties—it’s perfect after a long day at the beach!

Benefits of Ingredients:

Avocado is incredibly moisturizing, and can help restore our skin to its healthiest. Yogurt contains high amounts of Lactic Acid, an AHA proven to be successful in refining pores, exfoliating the skin and stimulating collagen production. Honey is an all-natural humectant—it retains water to help keep the skin soft and moisturized.

This summer look no further than your kitchen for all you need to keep your skin looking young, radiant and healthy! Not only can you have confidence that you’re not using any chemicals on your skin, your wallet will thank you as well! These recipes are proof that we don’t need to spend a lot of money to keep our selves looking beautiful!

So go get mixing, and be on your way to your sexiest summer skin yet!
