The girl who waits.

backpacking

I am the girl who waits.

I am the girl who waits, that dreamed of adventure.
I am the girl who waits, that dreamed of traveling.
I am the girl who waits, that dreamed of being free and seeing the world.
But I only dreamed about it. Nothing more.
And then one day, I met a traveler from a distant land, with nothing but a backpack and a free spirit.
And he promised, that he would come back and visit me in my regular life.
What this visit meant for me, was that he would save me from my monotonous life.
And so I waited.
I waited to be saved. I waited to have some light shed into the darkness of my life.
And in this waiting—I realized I had been waiting my entire life.
I was waiting for redemption, I was waiting to be rescued. I was waiting for someone to give me the adventure I kept dreaming about.
And so I realized I had two choices:
To keep on waiting or, to save my own life.
The second choice was the hardest, because it required action, on my part, and I didn’t think I was ready for it.
But then I realized, that I will never be absolutely ready to do something, that takes me out of my comfort zone. It will never be the right moment or the perfect moment.
So, if that is the case, why not just do it now?
So, now I am the girl who waited.
I bought my own backpack and a one way ticket to a distant land.
I’ve decided to go alone, so wish me luck on my journey.
Although I think I will be just fine, since now, I am more than capable of saving my own life.
