Does size really matter?

The quandary has been troubling men since time immemorial, and judging by the million plus hits on this recent clip from Cut Video, it continues to be deeply relevant for many.

The makers of this video asked women between the ages of 18 and 50 one question, “Does size matter?” and they compiled the dozens of responses into one revealing piece.

So, does size matter?

If you are thinking the question, “does the size of a man’s penis really matter?” is misguided, I agree.

Personally, I always found it to be a ridiculous question, founded in a superficial machismo and rooted more in male insecurity than any female reality.

The question, “Does size matter?” assumes there is an archetypal woman (or man) who can accurately answer for all the rest of us. But in fact, as I’m sure many men will be able to tell you, there is no secret formula for female pleasure. What feels good for one woman might be totally off-putting for another. What matters for one woman (size, for example), might not matter at all for others.

And then of course there are circumstances. Context. Is there a deep emotional bond involved? Are you strangers? Does the woman in question prefer penetration, or clitoral stimulation? To view the penis as the sole instrument of female pleasure is terribly limiting, don’t you think?

All women are not alike. All vaginas are not alike, for that matter. How could one ideal size possibly be right for all of them? How could any answer—“yes,” “no,” or “it depends”—possibly apply to all?

The inherent subtleties of the query seem so painfully self-evident when you listen to the vast range of answers given by these women. Why do we continue to obsess over a grossly oversimplified question? That’s a discussion for another day.

For now, for those of you dying to know if size really does matter, here is your “definitive” answer:
