3 Conscious Shifts for Healing the California Drought & Mother Earth.

californiadroughtIt is only in the realm of our inner worlds that we will find the power to illicit the transformation of our beautiful planet.

With that in mind, here are three major conscious shifts that we humans can do right now to begin healing the drought within ourselves and on our beloved planet.

1. Instilling Self Acceptance & Self-Love

Our lack of self-acceptance for who we are as individuals has kept us looped in an unconscious program that makes us seek the social approval of others for our personal wellbeing.

The result of this program is that we begin to live out of balance by portraying ourselves as larger than reality to overcompensate for a lack of inner acceptance. This overcompensation leads to the pursuit of bigger cars, bigger jobs and bigger consumption through the false pursuit of happiness.

Marketers and brands have known about this for decades and play upon this insecurity within us. Blasting us with images of “the good life,” we fall into dependence on the external and become trapped in an unbalanced lifestyle that is unaligned with Earth consciousness.

But here’s what they don’t tell us and what we should all know: contentment only comes from self-acceptance with ourselves. Yes, it is true. Only we can bring forth this peace by radically accepting every part of ourselves.

In this empowered state, we are no longer controlled by society’s false pressures, but are instead rooted in a higher knowing including Earth consciousness. Earth consciousness never makes us overspend or perform actions that don’t serve the whole. We will never over consume. We won’t purchase items driven by insecurity, buy a large house that sits half empty, and yes, water the lawn during a drought. We will rather live in a balanced way and be in harmony with all that is.

2. Mindfulness

In the state of presence, whether dealing with food, water, showering, career choices or whatever action we partake in, we naturally shine awareness on disempowering programs and retune ourselves to the consciousness of Earth.

Visiting the concrete jungles of Los Angeles a month ago, I couldn’t help but witness the general population in such frenzy of movement wherever I looked. Even the dogs seemed to be on Instagram while they went for walks!

Great things however begin to occur when we’re present, for we merge with the planet. We begin to feel her breathing, we feel her rotating and we become aware of the sky, the wind and her pulses.

This connection has the ability to snap us out of unconscious states and engage us in healthy actions.

Many will write this simple action off, but let me explain further. The importance of one person engaging in mindfulness is that the more people who are present or conscious on Earth, the more this state of being is accessible to all. As all is connected in this universe, one mindful breath of peace can ripple through all of existence and potentially give a moment of a pause to man cutting trees in the Amazon in order to question what is he doing.

Only consciousness will bring us out of unconscious actions, and this is truly one of the greatest activisms we can partake in, for to become aware of the self is to become aware of Mother Earth. And only with awareness is this possible.

3. Abundance Mentality

When we spend time in natural environments, we naturally begin to witness that the Earth is fully providing for us. From the oxygen of the trees to the flowing streams, an awakening begins that communicates that it is not the banks and monetary funds that grant life, but rather the Earth that sustains us all.

Through this truth, the Earth regains her power and we reconnect to a state of abundance that keeps us out of greed, jealously and hoarding with the knowledge that we are well provided for by mama. We witness everything in season, see all being replenished and break out of competition with our fellow brothers and sisters.

So just to clarify, being in a state of abundance doesn’t lead to eagerly abusing natural resources, because Mother Earth is teaching us that all is replaced. It is rather an understanding that everything is being replenished and therefore we do not need to hoard or take anything beyond our means in order to survive. This breaks us out of lack consciousness and reconnects us to the divine Earth consciousness of abundance.

Blessings and peace to all beings!
