I Like to Feel This Way. {Poem}

The poem below details the ever-frustrating problem of battling with my own mind in order to calm my thoughts and achieve a meditative state.

There is nothing more liberating and healthy than to be bigger than our own negative thoughts. I want readers to know that with practice, patience and acceptance—this beautiful and freeing state of mind can be achieved.

“I Like to Feel This Way.”

Blissful silence was my meditative state.

It’s not easily done normally, but today yes—I got there.

“Lexapro and distraction, utter madness!” she says to me, repeatedly.

Her accusations come in waves.

So cold, I feel I start to freeze.

Lady paralysis slowly crawls her way up, through my body, past my neck—my lips.

“Oh, not again,” I wince.

But before I clawed my way out of my skull,

I told her, “No, I like to feel this way.”

And she walked on by.

Freedom from thought,

I was there.

In blissful nothing.
