“Seinfeld: College Kids Way Too PC Now, They Don’t Even Know What ‘Racist’ Means.” (video)

Relephant bonus video:

I agree with the spirit of empathy, but the lack of respect in the yoga or pseudo spiritual or liberal or PC community for judgment’s good side is not shared by the Buddhadharma, where discernment—what to accept and what to reject—or “prajna” is a highly-held value.

“Even Chris Rock said he won’t do college campuses any more because college students are horrible.”
I’m feeling very triggered by this:

The problem with PC-fear is that its generalizations–“all white men are evil” are just as stupid as “all blacks or women yadayada.” So: we gotta keep our sense of humor and willingness to offend and be offended alongside real empathy, which is the opposite of PC-paranoid-silencing of all rational discourse.

This is an amazing article: a reminder that we must be brave enough to reject PC in favor of open discussion but precise and sensitive enough in our editing and discourse to remain empathetic and focused on true equality for all:

“I’m a liberal professor, and my liberal students terrify me.”

Relephant read:

New Agey types, ironically, love to accuse others of “judging.”

Via Reddit:

Yeah first they came for my Chris Rock and I did nothing.

Q: What do you make of the attempt to bar Bill Maher from speaking at Berkeley for his riff on Muslims?

A: Well, I love Bill, but I stopped playing colleges, and the reason is because they’re way too conservative.

Q: In their political views?

A: Not in their political views — not like they’re voting Republican — but in their social views and their willingness not to offend anybody. Kids raised on a culture of “We’re not going to keep score in the game because we don’t want anybody to lose.” Or just ignoring race to a fault. You can’t say “the black kid over there.” No, it’s “the guy with the red shoes.” You can’t even be offensive on your way to being inoffensive.

And:

I was walking around Toronto, Canada on Sunday, and I found a number of public works of art that were defaced with the words (edit: something like) “if you don’t know why this is racist, this is what you get”.

It’s disappointing.

edit: Here’s a shot of the piece. Not head-on, but it’s an animal with a musical instrument of some sort

And:

“Went to see Nick Offerman at my college, and he was making fun of religion and soooo many people walked out…”
