Soul Hunger. {Poem}

I’ve learned to:

Massage my feet with coconut cream,
Rub my cuticles with lemon lotion,
Buy that key lime green shirt,
Not the one on clearance,
To take naps with fluffy pillows,
Lay my forehead down
On a sunshine bolster,
Walk through the yard barefoot,
Grass tickles and sunned skin.
Vitamin D and probiotics,
Hike through canopies
With life sounding throughout,
Vibrating that spot right behind my heart,
To pull a sleeping daughter
Into the hollow of my fetal position,
Shampooed head under my chin

I didn’t know my soul needed
Scented creams,
Well sewn shirts,
Sunlit lawns,
And tight snuggles
Until I heard my own soul
Send up its hunger pangs

“Love me”
“Hold me”
“Nourish me”
I will.
I did.
I do.
