There are two things I have realized in my life that have made all the difference. The first is that our thoughts only possess as much power as we allow them to. The second is that, if given enough power, they can affect our reality.

These thoughts, they come
Pounding in my mind like a drum
And I give them the power they need
To consume me

And they consume me entirely
Seep into my dreams
Not even there am I free
Trapped by a reality
Created solely by me

There is no way out it seems
They expand, teem in my doubt
As I search through for my ability to demand peace
Nowhere to be found

And I find myself dancing with everything I don’t want
All because of the power
I’ve given to these thoughts
