Live like you were Dying.

“Live like you were Dying” by Tim McGraw is one of my all-time favorite songs.

It touches my heart and soul on such a deep level, while focusing on a young man who has recently received the news that his life here on earth may be ending soon. In the song, it talks about how he went skydiving, climbed the Rocky Mountains, offered forgiveness he previously refused to give and loved bigger and better than ever.

The lyrics are about fully living your life, following your dreams and enjoying every single moment. It’s about honoring and celebrating what’s important to you.

This is full-blown self love.

Sadly, most of us aren’t fully living our lives based on what our soul craves. Instead, our choices are based on fear. We don’t take that chance. We don’t pick up the phone, because we are afraid of rejection. We pass on forgiving, in fear of being hurt again. We don’t start that business, because we are afraid of failing or being laughed at. We don’t quit the job we hate, because we believe there is no other option. We don’t take that trip, because we can’t lose the job we hate. The list goes on and on.

We put off living until tomorrow. What if there wasn’t another tomorrow to achieve all you wanted? Would your choices in life be different?

Life is made up of moments, and each of these create our legacy. These moments are the marks left behind by us on earth, the memory we leave for our loved ones when our time is up and the the footprints saying we were here.

These ideas leave me with a few questions: How are we living our lives right now? Are we embracing it, or are we pushing it away and telling ourselves we’ll do it later?

Are we willing to take a risk and begin to fully live our lives, embracing the short time we have here on this amazing planet?

Are we willing to answer our soul’s calling? I invite you to discover who you are by living fully with love and intention in each moment.

Here are a few simple questions to help us discover what we could do differently and begin to live fully:

1. What in our life are we struggling with? What seems to not be working? In order to fully live, we have to be able to identify all the places where we are not honoring and celebrating who we authentically are. That means being really honest with ourselves on what isn’t quite working for us.

2. What does your soul crave? What does it yearn to experience? This is the fun part. You get to imagine anything. The sky is the limit. Do you dream of hopping on a plane and spending a week in another country? Do you long to do mission work in the world? Have you desired to go back to school and get a degree? Launching a new invention or brand? What about curling up for an entire day with your lover?

3. What is stopping you? What excuses do you tell yourself? What resources do you feel are not available, and what can you do to change that? This brings in awareness and helps you get really clear on where you aren’t embracing your life fully.
