*Eleditor’s note: Astrology isn’t a religion. We’re not sure it’s a science, either. It’s magic, maybe. But, as with feng shui, say, things affect things. So as long as we don’t go blaming our problems on the stars, as long as we assume responsibility for our own actions…well, hell, a little auspicious coincidence and applicable wisdom can’t hurt. And so, with that grain of salt…enjoy!

At various times in our lives, many of us ask the eternal question: What is my purpose?

This question often comes up when we are young and idealistic and yearning to make a difference. It can come up when we are frustrated and bored in a career that is unchallenging or unrewarding. Even if we are successful, we may feel some discontent in our soul, wondering if there isn’t something even more fulfilling for us to do in life. Each of us may ask, “What do I want to be when I grow up?”

I remember when this question came up for me. I was in my late 20s working for a Fortune 500 food company, as a brand manager helping to market millions of dollars of candies throughout the U.S.A. One day I woke up feeling extremely discontent and unfulfilled doing my job. I thought to myself, “Aren’t I meant to do something more significant with my life than selling candy bars and helping millions of kids get cavities?”

Once I realized that my own Sun Sign was in the 11th House of my birth chart (which rules Astrology), it helped me discover that my life’s purpose was to become an Astrologer and bring its value to society to improve the lives of others.

Of course, it was up to me to find my life’s purpose and I was responsible for manifesting it in my career. I’d like to share with others how they might find their life’s purpose by looking at what house of their horoscope their sun falls.

From an Astrological perspective, there are many places to look within a person’s birth chart to better understand their life’s purpose or career path. This article discusses only one of them. Simply put, by looking at the house where one’s Sun Sign falls, a person may learn more about their life’s purpose.

First, consider that the sun is at the heart of our solar system and all the other planets. It is known as “the giver of life,” and its existence is necessary to sustain life on our planet. In our birth chart, the sun is equally powerful in affecting us. It represents our identity, creative expression and life’s purpose—the essence of who we are.

Braveheart Astrology does a wonderful job of explaining the way we grow under the light of the sun.

“Although we express certain characteristics of our sun sign from an early age, we’re not born expressing its full potential. It takes time for us to develop and mature. Our sun sign is something we grow into as we journey through life, and discover our life’s purpose. We can only know and become who we really are by gathering life experiences, lessons and wisdom. This knowledge can point us in the direction of our life’s purpose.

Just as the sun keeps our solar system intact, in astrology, the sun keeps the key aspects of our ‘self’ intact. When we’re expressing our sun in a healthy way, we feel integrated and whole, confident and purposeful—we shine” and feel like we’re being true to ourselves, and aligned with our life’s purpose. When we’re not expressing our sun sign in a healthy way, we feel depressed, insecure, unworthy, and out of synch with who we really are—and our life’s purpose.”

How to Find Our Life’s Purpose.
