The ethical choice is to abstain from eating humans

by on Oct 13, 2011

Humans are sentient beings. Raising and killing humans for meat and dairy always cause pain. Humans do not have a biological need to eat human meat and dairy. So, if you choose to eat human meat and dairy, you are choosing to cause pain and to participate in exploitation and murder. Participating in pain and murder is always unethical. The ethical choice is to abstain from eating humans and their secretions.

The ethical choice is vegan.

Interview: Campus police arrest Vegan Outreach leafletter Nikki Benoit.

by on May 18, 2011

Vegan Outreach is a national nonprofit that has distributed millions of pieces of literature worldwide. Its college-based program alone has reached five million students on more than 1,800 college campuses. Its regional outreach coordinator Nikki Benoit, who famously asked Obama that vegan question while he was on the campaign trail, was recently arrested at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, Calif., for handing out pamphlets outside of a designated free speech zone. Civil rights experts do not consider it constitutional to restrict free speech to certain areas on campus.

Veganism (a 7 Year Old’s Perspective)

by on May 10, 2011

Last week the video “Veganism (a 7 Year Old’s Perspective)” was shared by many on Facebook. I tend to not be sucked in by cute children videos, yet I couldn’t resist that title. I was immediately impressed by Marielle’s grasp of veganism. Her video covered much more than just diet. Within two days, the video had been watched by over 3,500 people. A couple of days ago, she posted a brand new video (both are below). Please follow Marielle at her Facebook fan page. I just had to interview her!

Happy Grieving Mother’s Day.

by on May 8, 2011

Today we honor the mothers around the world – the women who have given birth to us, nourished us and taught us to be upstanding members of society. Most of us have warm memories of our mothers and our childhoods, the comforting stroke of our hair, the times that we were sick in bed and the countless meals that our mothers made for us.

The suffering you cause may be your own

by on Mar 18, 2011

All religions, spiritual philosophies and ethical codes teach that when we come upon suffering, we do all that we can to help alleviate it. Most of us would agree that we have both a moral and ethical duty to help those that are suffering. I think we would also agree that it is our moral and ethical duty to avoid causing suffering.

The Supreme Court decides to protect corporations, not free speech.

by on Mar 9, 2011

The Supreme Court has no interest in protecting our rights as activists, so we need to continue the fight for free speech on our own. Animal rights and environmental activists are the low hanging fruit that the government has decided to go after first, but antiwar, civil rights, immigrant rights, and other activists must take notice as well.
