Before we die it behooves us to give the great gifts we have received through our trials and triumphs. More has been given and more has been asked of us. More is required of us. Let us extend our love, and take any practical actions we can, to support our Islam sisters.137 views

Truly a must watch for anyone who gets that women's empowerment (and therefore an end to patriarchy, masogyny and the greed and power-mongering included with them) is the key to our humanity unfolding in the best way possible.88 views

How many women have criticized ourselves like this at some point in our lives? Probably many of us, particularly if we live in Western societies. Here, cultural messages about women’s bodies and thinness saturate our media and “fat” is seen as a reflection of moral worth. Rather than seeing beauty in a range of body sizes and types—as yoga would have us do—women learn that only a narrow image counts.214 views

But at the outset, at least, our aim was similar to his in that we were looking for female participants as a means to an end – to have them lend their time and their beauty, in order to promote a larger story. This story was about weight as a private issue that promotes a cycle of shame in our lives, leaving us vulnerable in a culture, which seeks to profit from our insecurities.656 views

You can spot him by his clever attire: denim suit, colorful necktie, thick-rimmed glasses and a tub of Kentucky Fried chicken, most likely original recipe. He casts quite an intriguing presence standing in front of your local American Apparel store. You might almost mistake him for a model standing next to cardboard cutout of a woman wearing a tank top, terry cloth shorts and socks.365 views

There is a vicious, green witch in the female psyche that persistently incites us to compare ourselves to other women. It demands that we measure our weight, our breast size, our complexion, our careers, our talents, our qualities, our sexiness, our intellects, our wardrobes, our popularity and our whole lives with those of other women.4,786 views

I was told that the recuperation was much shorter then an open procedure and that I could be up and around, nearly back to normal life after 3 weeks time. Sign me up! I had my son’s Bar Mitzvah fast approaching and I wanted to be able to have this behind me. If I could have the surgery within two weeks I would have exactly three weeks to recuperate before his big day. Perfect – until it wasn’t.1,510 views

Amidst the many pearls of wisdom that drop on my head through regular Yoga practice, one has proven more valuable than most. It’s related to female hormones. Here’s the crucial axiom of faith-based theism: human life is valuable to the extent that it is possessed by an external god. Further: the road to perdition is paved with the delusion that you can find meaning in your own way. You have fallen into this fallen world through your own fallen nature, and you can’t learn your way out. You need a saviour, and a book. And you’d better choose wisely, because there’s only one of each.963 views

Please don’t ask a woman who has miscarried what she did wrong. It is amazing to me how women get undermined by this question. It starts with pregnancy and chases after us as women until we’re in the grave. Enough already. It's not just insensitive, it's bloody patriarchal. Try something radical: Be present to her suffering. Do her damn dishes. Hug her.421 views
