ele:REVIEW – Eco Fire Logs

Buying Logs in Boxes? > via Waylon Lewis

Buying logs in boxes ain’t for me. I worked as a Buddhist lumberjack at Karme Chöling for a year after high school, and the idea of buying fire-makin’ materials in packaging strikes me as one of the seven signs of the end of the world. Still…the Java-Log is made of coffee grounds and vegetable wax. It has nice bright flames, and coffee has three time more energy than wood. They’re also cleaner than regular logs, emitting 70-80% less creosote than good old-fashioned wood fires. And Pine Mountain‘s “logs” are made from recycled sawdust and natural vegetable wax. Eco-friendly and affordable? I’ll try anything once. Ask for ‘em at your local grocery.
