Quote o’Day: Al Gore’s big “10-Year” speech via NY Times.

“We’re borrowing money from China to buy oil from the Persian Gulf to burn it in ways that destroy the planet,” Mr. Gore said. “Every bit of that’s got to change.”

Are we still a can-do yes-we-can nation? Can we power our once-great nation with clean, renewable, job-creating wind and solar and geothermal—giving up our weakening need for the Middle East’s filthy fuel? If we can go to the moon in 8.2 years, or go from 17 planes to beign the greatest power in WWII in only a few years…the answer is ‘yes.’ But it takes two things: grassroots buy-in (which I believe we have, as evidenced by the trans-partisan fad-dom of Green-this and Green-that) and, secondly, naitonal leadership. Both Obama and McCain promise to be far, far better—Bush Jr. didn’t even acknowledge the existence of the Science 101 Greenhouse Gas, human-action-caused Climate Change phenomenon until last year.
