It’s become McCain and Palin’s mission to serve up offshore drilling as the quick-fix to rising prices at the pump. With millions of oil industry tax dollars flowing into the state of Alaska bank account, it’s no wonder that Palin is looking to expand drilling into the National Arctic Wildlife Refuge. And offshore drilling, whether in the Gulf of Mexico or off the coast of California is an easy sell to millions of Americans looking for tangible change when they open their heating bills or fill up their tanks.

Alas, the offshore drilling fairy tales just aren’t true. According to a study released by the Bush Administration’s own Energy Information Administration, offshore oil won’t impact pump prices until 2030. Find all the facts here, and be prepared to win the argument next time you’re faced with a mob of Republicans chanting, “Drill, baby, drill!”
