This is for all you political junkies out there. If constant news coverage from the major television networks, newspapers, blogs and the Daily Show have not satisfied you, I think a candidate cookie might provide a short-term solution.
I discovered candidate cookies about a month ago at Eleni’s Bakery in New York’s West Village and have been making regular pilgrimages once a week since I made this discovery. The Obama cookie or cupcake always go quickly, but for some reason they always seem to have plenty of McCain cookies on hand. Hmmm. (I actually just gave them a call and they will be out of their Obama cookies and cupcakes for the next few weeks.) My boyfriend and I enjoyed a couple of Obama cupcakes the night the senator gave his speech at the Democratic National Convention.
Max & Benny’s in Northbrook IL. has already added Palin cookies to their menu of candidate cookies and the website for Tasty Prints of Somerset, NJ sells elaborate digital images of Obama or McCain printed on iced cookies that deliver within two to three days. (They are made with FDA approved food coloring of course.)
Whether you are planning a debate watching party, or just plain hungry, candidate cookies promise a good time.
Check them out if you’d like to have a culinary political moment for yourself.
