It’s too strange for fiction: “they’re gonna think that their god is bigger than You,” Pastor Arnold Conrad warned at a McCain rally this weekend. From the Wall Street Journal, no less:

Pastor Delivers Odd Invocation at McCain Rally
Laura Meckler reports from Davenport, Iowa, on the presidential race:

Sometimes the most interesting stuff happens before John McCain even arrives. At a McCain rally today in Davenport, a pastor delivered an odd invocation.

“There are millions of people around this world praying to their god — whether it’s Hindu, Buddha, Allah — that his [McCain’s] opponent wins, for a variety of reasons,” said Arnold Conrad, former pastor of Grave Evangelical Free Church. “And Lord, I pray that you would guard your own reputation because they’re going to think that their god is bigger than you if that happens. So I pray that you will step forward and honor your own name in all that happens between now and Election Day.”

That might strike some as provocative given persistent, false rumors that Democrat Barack Obama is a Muslim. Sen. Obama is Christian…” For more.

  1. David Lynch says:

What is it about these guys? As a practicing Tibetan Buddhist and for all Buddhist let me just say that we DO NOT think that Buddha is God! As an independent thinker and voter I want the facts and not liable and slander. I have seen enough mud slinging. I think the truth has been established the Obama is of the Christian faith. Sen. McCain needs to stand up and clear the air on this and then move on to what matters, things like the economy, health care, ending the war (like he really would). I think as a whole Americans all agree that we need a change. I feel that in McCain we get Bush’s third term and much more of the same a progressive spiraling tumble into economic disaster and more kids dying in the Middle East. For what? Stop the lies and mudslinging and just give us your plan Sen. McCain and please try and see if it is what you would truly want if you were not rich if you were just a normal American who needs a job, health care and a way to keep your home, your car and your family feed and clothed in a house.

umm how can your god get offended preacher man ?

how can we do anything but point to a way?

If jesus rose again in the middle east this asshole would probably crucify him all over again.

take a long walk in the desert preacher man !
and eat all the cactus you can find.
