Excerpt: WASHINGTON (Reuters) – As the U.S. presidential candidates sprint toward the finish line, the Bush administration is also sprinting to enact environmental policy changes before leaving power.

Whether it’s getting wolves off the Endangered Species List, allowing power plants to operate near national parks, loosening regulations for factory farm waste or making it easier for mountaintop coal-mining operations, these proposed changes have found little favor with environmental groups. …ummm aren’t we forgetting something. Just the same as it has been for the past two years, Congress must approve MOST of the things the Executive branch is trying to put though, and Congress is already controlled by the Democrats. The Democrats have quietly approved almost all of the Bush administration’s requests for the past two years!

DON’T PLAY THE BLAME GAME. EVERYONE IS AT FAULT! Democrats & Republicans are playing for the same team: the wealthy elites.

Amen, bro, but they actually haven’t controlled anything–without at least 60 out of 100 in Senate they can’t prevent Bush from doing anything if he’s determined. And much of this stuff doesn’t actually go through Congress at all–Bush has used (by far) record number of executive signing orders. Finally, Congress is also beholdent to their people back home, so often will not vote along party lines, as they are trying to be ‘representatives’ of their peeps as well.

I’m not saying the whole system is full of compromise and bullshit, but it’s also full of folks trying to do the right thing within a difficult system.
