Erika Mastny is Running for the Fringe.

Erika Mastny, a Boulder runner, refers to herself as a “crazy athlete in a love/hate relationship with her feet.” A devout fan of the Boulder Fringe Festival, Erika has organized a fundraiser called Running for the Fringe, in which she will take on a 6-day, 113-mile competitive run across the…Rocky Mountains.

When Erika, known for her strong athleticism and generosity of spirit sets her mind to something, well…  sources say it’s best to simply step aside and watch it happen (not bad advice for those of us not up to running a 6-day race).

And that’s just what her fans will do on August 23 when Erika runs the GORE-TEX™ TransRockies™ Run for the Fringe. Not surprisingly, Erika has found a generous and creative way to give her support: Every mile she runs will benefit the Boulder Fringe Festival in the form of pledges. And because the festival exists entirely upon generous donations from the community, fundraisers like Running for the Fringe are essential for the perpetuation of this unique annual event.

Mastny commented on the innovative fundraiser run:

Running is my poetry in motion, my dance. Running is my art. Let’s connect our athletic and artistic communities by celebrating both. I’ll do the running and you do the supporting — and together we can keep on Fringing!

Like a walk-a-thon, individuals pledge a certain amount of money per mile run. To pledge, please contact Erika Mastny at (303)435-5034 or by e-mail at [email protected]. The Fringe is a nonprofit 501c(3), tax-exempt organization, so your pledge is tax deductible.
