Marriage sucks—overturn Prop 8!

This video comes via

“Prop 8, what a f#cking farce! Why should they live the dream, having sex with whoever they please, partying all night, sleeping all day, drinking like they’re on some permanent spring break – Let them SUFFER marriage just like us heterosexuals!” ~ Kontraband

“If you disagree with the Homosexual lifestyle, support overturning Prop 8 + make them get married, like the rest of us.”

Love it. Finally, a brilliantly executed rejoinder to those “family values” types who want to take away basic human rights from a huge subset of We the People.

Many of us who see gay marriage rights as a basic civil rights issue laugh, when we consider that the Christian Right is fighting tooth and nail to prevent our brothers and sisters from being able to do one of the hardest things known to Hu-man: live together in loving harmony.

Finally, a video captures the whole sorry farce. What the eff are we afraid of!?

This is simply fabulous. Couldn't be more true or effective.

  2. Riiiight. Marriage is easy, perfect…and, apparently, those who love it have no sense of humor. It's satire, Annie!

    so true. how depressing.

Why should we heterosexual married people be the only ones in misery??

Lol! Kathleen! Yes, equality for all!

  4. In the immortal words of Kinky Friedman (quote by none other than me in a recent Elephant piece: "I support gay marriage because I believe they have a right to be as miserable as the rest of us."

  5. Clearly I do a better job of editing blog posts than comments: that's "quoted" with a ) between "piece" and the colon…

I never said marriage was easy or perfect. I object to trying to sell the point that everyone should have access to it by painting it as a punishment b/c it implies that those opposed should want gays to marriage so that they will be punished – for their “lifestyle choice”.

Satire is fine and I did get that – I just don’t think it works here, but instead of debating my point, you sneer.

Marriage is not awful. It’s a relationship with ebb and flow like other relationships. And I am standing by my assertion that this vid preaches to the choir and therefore, doesn’t do the cause any good.

Gays who want to marry – and they should be able to – value the institution. This vid ridicules them too.
