Saw this VIYful yoga video via our longtime friends at Manduka, was particularly struck by Jill Miller’s anti-throwaway-culture “I’ve had my mat longer than I’ve had email.”

How long have you had your mat?

I lost my mat when moving away from college. I had that one since I began yoga, about three years. The current one is 4 years old.

My current mat is 7 years old. I bought it when I started practicing Bikram and now I'm a teacher.
I have other mats that I've bought on travel and such, but I keep them to loan to guests, sometimes I have yoga brunches where all my friends come over and I teach/do yoga with them and everyone brings food and then we eat, so I've needed them all. When I open my studio I'll keep them as loaners. When I buy for my studio I'll buy green.
    They last, forever….

Bought my Manduka mat in 2001 after a recommendation to battle my ailing knees, have been on this mat 2-3 times a week since. It shows no signs of wear just a lot of loving devotion

I just saw this post Waylon!…..too funny. In truth, I got my FIRST yoga mat 22 years ago…it shredded into mat-style parmesan cheese within a year…. Manduka totally solved that shredding issue with their Black Mat. I still have, and use that black mat 🙂
