Sex is Exciting! Sex is bad.
Often, on elephant, I and we post sexy stuff. Almost as often, I and we are condemned for doing so. But isn’t sex…sexy? Can’t it be talked about in a respectful, fun, uplifting or educational manner?
What’s wrong with sex? What’s wrong with talking about sex? Is our hatred of it really about condemning crass objectification (whenever we post a sexy man blog, we get dozens of comments reveling in the hunk’s…attributes…).
Are we, in 2010 2011 in America, still so uptight, beset by a centuries’ long puritanical hangover that sex can’t just be wholesome, ordinary, sexy without being exciting or, flip the coin, degrading?
From the department of just wondering, ’cause we’re going to be writing and talking about sex and love and relationships for a long time and sincerely want to get this right so it’s not exploitative and is of real benefit. And, fun.
