Your ‘Eckhart Tolle’ of the Day.

A New Earth-Awaking to Your Life’s Consciousness.

Eckhart Tolle’s, A New Earth, is on my iPod. It’s been there for a couple of years now and I’ve listened to it on and off, some chapters more than ten times, but each time, some sort of magic happens. I feel as if his words lift me out of a slump, they send light when darkness descends and make me feel a sense of freedom that I know exists, I’m just too afraid to let it run through my veins like wild horses (although every cell of me wants just that).

So, when I chose ‘random’ on my iPod two nights ago while on a walk and that calm, grounding voice came pouring through my headset and straight into my soul, I felt uplifted. I felt hope and felt inspired to share a few quotes and thoughts from each chapter (that barely scratch the surface of what this books offers). I’ll start with chapter one, now that I’m going to go through and listen to the entire book again. And, I hope that by writing down a few of Tolle’s brilliant points, it will help them to absorb even deeper into my being and perhaps inspire you too.

Are you ready for a transformation of consciousness? What leads people toward awakening?

There is no doubt that humans have proven to be destructive. Destructive towards themselves, towards nature, towards nearly every life form on Earth. This notion describes a great part of human history—war, murder, torture, factory farming and atrocious, unthinkable acts of violence, all of which are still happening today. So, why do people act out in such ways?

Fear, greed and the desire for power, not only from a large scale country and governmental perspective, but amongst individual relationships. You and me. Him and her. Them, they and us. These three things, fear, greed and the desire for power, are the root of human dysfunction. So, how do we start to wake up, gain consciousness? We respond to a radical crisis, a possibility and when we realise we have a choice.

“For some, it may have begun through loss or suffering; for others, through coming into contact with a spiritual teacher or teaching, through reading The Power of Now or some other spiritually alive and therefore transformational book.”

Can you find the goodness within you?

Perhaps in order to see and comprehend the good within us, we must see, with absolute clarity, the insanity within us; a recognition of the unawakened self. Seeing the suffering that we create gives us an opportunity to stop the nightmare. It can break patterns and can invite the realisation of the fundamental oneness of life.

“You do not become good by trying to be good, but by finding the goodness that is already within you, and allowing that goodness to emerge. But it can only emerge if something fundamental changes in your state of consciousness.”

What are the thoughts that you regard as the absolute truth?

The more you make your thoughts your identity, the more limiting this is in regards to your truest potential. Think about how much you judge others based on how they think, especially in regards to how it may be different from the way in which you think. It is also important to question how deeply entrenched our beliefs are and to realise we are not the incessant voice in our head. You are the awareness that recognises this.

“If the structures of the human mind remain unchanged, we will always end up re-creating fundamentally the same world, the same evils, the same dysfunction”

Love everything as yourself.

It is imperative. Right now we are faced with a choice: evolve or die. Every single thing around us is a reflection of us. Does this make sense to you? A bad mind-scape equals a bad landscape. However, many of us are experiencing a breaking of old mind habits and patterns. We are challenging belief systems and are waking up to a change that runs deeper than our minds. We are waking up to a new dimension of the self.

“This book’s main purpose is not to add new information or beliefs to your mind or to try to convince you of anything, but to bring about a shift in consciousness, that is to say, to awaken.”

What is your experience after reading chapter one?
