    Now, this is interesting! I have been struggling with the concept of attachment, how to relate to all the maya on a day to day basis if the goal is to be detached from it all. This is food for thought….thank you for posting this

    non attachment= …living, being committed to the well being of the human beings and the whole creation,planet etc….with love/patience/tolerance….Awareness….kind of?

    Michael articulates this well. It is, however, what the Dali Lama says in many of his books as well as others. One of the biggest misunderstandings is that people get into yoga and meditation thinking it will solve everything. IN many cases and if the practice is working well it will not fix anything, but being you face to face with how things are.

    The trouble is we have invested a HUGE amount of time, energy and even money to the way we THINK things are or wish they would be. I think one of the most unfortunate lies can ever say to ourselves and others is that we are not afraid. Fear is often the basis of many actions. And until we see this and accept it…we will be doing what has been coined as Spiritual by-passing.

    So in order to be non-attached..we actually have to face being attached and get right down to the fact that we cling to our bank accounts, house, etc….etc….status, etc….etc….Now, NO one said throw all that out….but we should try to loosen our grip on a few things.

    From my own personal experiences…I have seen relationships fail, much suffering and a lot of confusion because our our fixed ideas about things, life, ourselves, etc…

    When it comes right now to it..we can only change ourselves…IF we want to do that..and discover in the end what the teachings are trying to teach…which is be peaceful….it is not happiness we need to find but peace.

    And these are different….we should understand this too.

    That's kinda cool. I believe this. I just never knew "it" had a name. I have wrestled for a long time with what I believe, I'm still learning…not that I will ever arrive. Its nice to know there are others out there who understand these types of concepts.

    This man speaks a schoolboy wisdom of mindfulness and not detachment maybe because of a defense mechanism of his ego. However the scriptures speak of detachment as being the pure witness, centered in stillness and peace or in essence living in reality. Whatever objects within your field of consciousness happen, happens with or without your sense of doership it is all a illusion and you are the presence or pure "I amness" prior to concept and beyond concept. The mind and body can be active or inactive, the self remains alone however. Attachment pertains to sensory objects (including the tools themselves; body and mind) and thoughts which are all in the field of illusion. While the success of work is unaffected detachment does literally mean a dispassion and disinterest for objective phenomenon as it is a flimsy projection and while the enlightened being lives within duality but abide in non duality.

    Having read this I believed it was really informative.

    I appreciate you spending some time and effort to
    put this short article together. I once again find myself personally spending a lot of time both reading and posting
    comments. But so what, it was still worth it!
