Embarrassingly Catchy Songs We Love

This week’s yoga playlist is cheekily named “Guilty Pleasures,” as it’s a collection of embarrassingly catchy pop songs, the kind that highbrow hipsters sometimes pretend they are too cool to appreciate. Bright Antenna Records? We were raised on a lot of lowbrow. And anyway, the phrase “guilty pleasures” is a funny one. It implies that we should somehow feel a sense of shame for the things that bring us joy.

Rock ‘n’ roll was built on the opposite notion, and rock ‘n’ roll is our religion. Therefore, we don’t believe the things which bring us pleasure should ever make us feel guilty. And by pleasure, we don’t mean the superficial kind, or the chemically-induced kind. We mean any key that unlocks the joy that lives inside of us. Like love. Art. Music. And, of course, yoga. Namaste, mofos.

Follow Bright Antenna Records on Facebook and Twitter to receive a heads up when each week’s playlist hits elephant journal. For our pre-elephant journal yoga playlists, including Bowie Yoga, Grunge Yoga and Disco Yoga, visit Bright Antenna’s Spotify page.

  1. Hi, Tiffanie. I love that you're bringing more popular music coverage to elephant, especially in such an engaging way. I've always felt there should be more coverage of popular culture on elephant. Looking forward to you future articles.
