A Bunch of Awesome Quotes on Abortion.

Pro-life? Pro-choice? Caring for life may or may not begin at conception, but it certainly shouldn’t end there.

“If you want to prevent abortions, you make sure everyone has health care, a high school education and birth control. Not the exact opposite.” (eclectablog.com)

…That presumes you give a sh*t about the actual people involved, and not just a theoretical concept of an “unborn innocent”.

All quotes from my favorite online community on the web.

“It’s no coincidence that the states with the lowest funding for Planned Parenthood, the worst sex-ed, etc. have the highest rates of teenage pregnancy. Looking at you Mississippi.”

“I love how Sarah Palin’s daughter got pregnant, yet she still supports abstinence-only sex education.”

“Planned Parenthood, we’re going to get rid of that” – Mitt Romney

Your body will react against an unwanted pregnancy. Yeah, it has ways to shut that whole thing down.

Texas has the third-highest teen pregnancy in America, and the idiot governor thinks Abstinence works…Telling teenagers not to have sex is like telling them maths is in fact very useful and chances are you will need that skill. THEY JUST WONT LISTEN.

Best article on the subject I’ve seen, from 2006.

I’ve been saying this for years; you’re preaching to the choir. I’m pro-life. I don’t want to just make abortion illegal because that won’t work. You have to prevent the pregnancies in the first place, and in order to do that, you need all those things – education, health care, birth control, and also social assistance programs so that when someone still winds up pregnant (it happens no matter how careful one is sometimes), they can readily afford to provide for a child. I think it’s really, really indefensible to be pro-life but also against birth control and health care and sex ed and social aid and all these things that people need in order to avoid abortions.

They don’t want to prevent abortions, they want to punish women for enjoying sex. Preventing abortions is just one way to do this.

Remember when the Republican Party used to be about fiscal responsibility and personal freedoms? What happened? I might vote for that. Not this new party, though.

“Why is it that most of the people who are against abortion are people you wouldn’t want to fuck in the first place?” – George Carlin

Excerpt from the top link:

…what should be seen as the greatest victory for pro-lifers in decades: the contraception mandate.

In any insurance plan, women will receive contraception with no co-pays. Nothing the government has ever done will prevent more abortions.

Several states have mandated that insurance include contraception for years. The reasons for this are obvious. Reproductive health care is basic health care for women. Not only does contraception save insurers and the public the costs of unwanted children, it’s necessary for many women to treat common health problems. Arguing against including contraception in insurance because it may violate an employer’s beliefs is like arguing insurance shouldn’t cover kids born out of wedlock.

In America, you have the freedom of your beliefs. And I have the freedom to not have your beliefs thrust upon me.

Last weekend, Paul Ryan promised to get rid of the contraception mandate on “day one” of a Romney administration. “It will be gone. I can guarantee you that,” he said.

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright wondered how any woman except Ann Romney could vote for Mitt – a man who is literally promising to repeal a law that prevents insurers from charging women more just because they’re women.

The choice this election could not be starker. A woman’s right to make private, personal choices about her body is on the ballot.
