What was the icing on your cake this year?
When I was a kid and heard someone read “Song of Myself” for the first time, I always thought the line said “I celebrate myself, icing myself.” It was as if part of celebrating myself was “icing myself.” Sounded cool. And not in some sort of kinky covering myself in frosting kind of way, but just…I don’t know. Being a little more. Adding a little extra to life. The icing on my cake.
The icing on my cake this year? Accepting that I cannot control everything. Learning that sometimes I have to stop overthinking things. Learning not to take myself so seriously.
