The Dalai Lama Says the Future Dalai Lama Could be a Woman. ~ Jennifer Spesia

“Now, the time has come, we really need more effort regarding the promotion of warm-heartedness, affection and compassion.”

~ His Holiness the Dalai Lama

During this talk in New Delhi, India, the Dalai Lama discussed “The Power of Women” and strongly encouraged strengthening the roles women play in society. He even went so far as to state he personally believes the future Dalai Lama could be a woman.

His reasoning was, biologically, women are more sensitive to others’ pain and have a tendency to “take care” of others. Whereas men have a tendency to be “more aggressive,” women are the often a source of gentleness, compassion and affection for those around them (and of course, there are exceptions).

The Dalai Lama was adamant about the importance of care-giving, compassion and warm-heartedness and insisted women must take a more active role in society, because, with women in more leadership roles, there will be less danger of violence.
