Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” Played at 33 rpm Has Never Sounded Better. ~ Ashleigh Hitchcock

 Dolly Parton

Jolene is the 1973 hit song by Dolly Parton.

This song tells the story of a woman scorned when Jolene makes her moves on the woman’s man. It’s the age old story of jealously with the pleading twist of begging the offending woman for mercy.

I’ve never quite been able to stomach the original version, because of it’s frantic tempo. Slowed down a little, it’s my new old favorite song.

I can’t get enough. I play it again and again. Just to hear it. And, no woman has ever stolen my man.

“Those who cheat on their partners, who are loyal to them; don’t deserve them. It is a trashy attitude to disrespect a person who is loyal in a relationship, by cheating on him or her.” ~ Ellen J. Barrier
