I was raised by two gay moms.

People constantly ask me what it’s like, with eager, curious faces. I tell them on Father’s Day my wallet is a little bit heavier and on Mother’s Day it’s a little lighter.

I love that I live in a generation where we love who we love. It’s simply about souls connecting with souls. Our world was not always like this, and although we have much progress to make I am grateful that people are starting to really get it.

I look forward with anticipation for the world my children will live and love in, where they will look back at homophobia as we do racism. Love should never be reserved, limited, imposed, forced, fearful or full of shame. I get that, and I plan to raise children who get that too.

This year at San Francisco Pride, Burger King introduced a new burger called the “Proud Whopper.”

Burger King gets it, do you?
