Shiny Happy Skin: Juice to Make Us Glow. ~ Aisling McAteer

Juicing and Glowing

I recently returned from a two week trip to Cuba, a wonderfully unique place, like nowhere else I have ever had the pleasure and opportunity to experience.

I returned with a suitcase full of memories.

The chaotic, hot haze of Havana. The white sandy beaches and crystal turquoise waters of the North. The passion and salsa of the South.

One souvenir I managed to take home was my tired, taught parched skin.

It’s no mystery what caused this. The hot Cuban sun, the salt water, air conditioning on the flight and (let’s be honest here), over-indulging in delicious local rum!

If you’re in a similar rut, or your skin just needs an injection (the natural kind!) of antioxidants, then this juice is the answer. It will pump skin with powerful detoxifiers and antioxidants, feeding it from within instead of applying topical solutions, which often don’t work.

Prepare for hydrated, dewy, glowing skin!

Recipe:
1/2 avocado
2 cups kale leaves
2 cups chopped cucumber
1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
1 cup parsley
1 tablespoon of chia seeds
Squeeze of lemon

Blitz it up in the blender and enjoy!

I prefer to use water in my juices, but a suitable alternative like almond milk or coconut water also works. If you’re making this in advance and need it to stay fresh in the refrigerator, add an extra squeeze of lemon juice. This will help keep the avocado from browning. Also leave out the chia seeds, otherwise you’ll have a chia seed pudding!

Please remember to buy organic where possible.
