I scream
as I look
upon reflection
Who is this woman
gazing back at me
with those
unreadable eyes
unpredictable mind
Who is this woman
trying to find
her way while
trying not to
lose herself
though she hasn’t
yet found herself
Who is this woman
neither young
nor old
caught in an
existential rut
holding onto the
edges
for dear
life
Who is this woman
that fears
while not being
afraid at all
Who is this woman
to you—
confident and brave
wise and compassionate
but lacking
lacking something
you don’t know
“Who is she,
who is she?”
I say
as I look
upon reflection
Who is this woman
gazing back at me
I know now who she is
she is
me.
