“We don’t actually live here,”
you say
to the flirty passerby,
“We’re just sitting.”
We’re watching the acorn tree
lay siege
to the street-parked cars below
(so far, the tree is winning).
We’re spinning our stories
Unraveling the past half-dozen years
of anxiety, epiphany, exploration and
return.
And then we’re pausing to sip
dark rum and mango juice
from cold, tall glasses
as we continue to hurtle through the universe
at the speed of light.
