Why Write to Your Children. {Poem}

writing

A high school friend of mine cherished a journal her mom had started when she was pregnant and had continued after birth.

This young lady’s mom was killed in a car crash before she turned one year old.

That left a mark on my heart and I have kept a journal for both of my children, in which I write directly to them about funny stories, memorable moments, why I adore them, tape in ticket stubs, pictures or cute notes they write.

It comforts me that these writings will answer the question if my children ever doubt my love. This poem was inspired from my journals.

The Deepest Expression

Words of love
Words of admiration
A parent’s love is the deepest, yet so many times not heard.

Words of praise,
Words of recognition,
A parent’s love is the deepest, yet so many times goes unexpressed.

Words of joy,
Words of perseverance,
A parent’s love is the deepest form of expression.

Express your love,
Sing your joy and
Acknowledge recognition.

A parent’s love is the deepest form of expression.
