5 Steps for Moving Towards Our Optimum Energy Field & Chakra Health.

Monk charkra color energy

One of the best ways to think about the concept of caring for our energy fields and chakras is to think of it as “energetic hygiene.”

Just as we need to care of our bodies on a daily basis in order for them to function in a healthy and ideal way, so do we need to care of our energy field and chakras in an on-going way.

We know that if for a period of time we don’t exercise or eat right our bodies will start to decrease in their optimal functioning.

Well, this is also true for the energy field and chakras.

That’s why it takes time, patience, commitment and learning new skills to improve our energetic and chakra health.

There’s no quick fix to healing the energy field and chakras.

But I’m not saying this to discourage anyone.

We can take a realistic approach to working with these malleable and changeable forces in our lives that when functioning optimally have the power to improve our quality of life. This can only be done by giving them the attention they deserve.

Here are five ways to do just that:

1. Meditation

I feel like I can hear the communal eye-rolling at making the number one thing on this list meditation.

Isn’t everyone always saying that meditation is the do-it-yourself fix-it solution to everything?

Maybe it is and maybe it isn’t but for this context of energy fields and chakras I want to present a different angle on why meditation is so fundamental.

One of the things we learn how to do in meditation practice is to steer our attention where we want it to go. And this is so important because steering our attention where we want it to go is not  happening for most people, most of the time.

Mostly people’s attention is just wherever it happens to go. It’s on worries, fears, plans, daydreams, memories.

But if we want to be able to put our attention on our energy field and chakras we need to know how to move it away from our habitual, sticky, consuming thought patterns.

How do we do this?

We practice.

Just as an elite athlete or great musician practices to get better at what they want to do with their attention and skills, we can practice steering our attention away from our thoughts to our breath and over time we will become Olympians and virtuoso’s in our right at attention steering. And then effortlessly we will be able to move our attention to our energy field and chakras so we can do exercises (presented in this article, just keep reading) that will increase their health and functioning.

How long should we meditate for?

Five minutes a day for a few months is really enough to give anyone the ability to be more in control over where their attention is going.

2. Read, Study and Learn

This is what we do when we want to start a new health regimen.

We read up on yoga or vitamins or the paleo diet.

We watch some youtube videos, talk to friends and basically get informed.

And even though this getting informed part of the journey is not the healing itself, it is an important part of the process of learning and growing and committing to new belief systems or ideas about how we want to pursue our life and our health.

So, if in my last article 10 Signs Your Energy Field and Chakras are Out of Whack you saw your own life in the symptoms I presented and you thought to yourself that you would like to pursue exploring the topic of energy fields and chakras as a means to correcting those present imbalances, then a really important first step is to get informed. I recommend finding books or resources that have photos or drawings of the energy field and chakras to get a sense of what they look like and how they function.

3. Make an Appointment with a Professional

Again, when we know our health needs assistance we go see a doctor, naturopath or Chinese Medical practitioner.

We go see a professional.

Energetic health is no different. There’s a lot we can do at home to work on our own energetic health and chakra health but it doesn’t compare with the assistance of a professional energy healer.

And in my opinion the individual is more important then the modality. There is Reiki, Healing Touch, Quantum Touch, Acupuncture, Cranio-Sacral and so many more forms of energy healing out there now, it is awesome.

My advice to finding the right energy healer for you is to ask around. Find out who your friends or family might have seen for help. Ask for recommendations.

And then if you make an appointment and have a session and you feel good and see results, then keep going. If the energetic healer makes you uncomfortable and the changes you are looking for are not occurring, then don’t go back. Try someone new. This is your healing journey and you need to stay in the driver’s seat and ensure it is taking you where you want to go.

I always tell my clients only to book another appointment with me if they’re seeing the results they want in their life.

4. Simple Exercise for the Energy Field

Here is how I guide people to work with their own energy fields.

In my opinion the healthiest place to envision the energy field is as a nice tight egg shaped bubble around the body.

This is not about being ‘open’ or ‘closed’ – it is just about keeping our energy nice and close to us so we can use it to do the things we need to do in life.

To start you can close your eyes and picture your energy field as a bright, white, light shooting away from your body in all directions as far as you can send it. Then count to three in your head and on three use some effort and pull the energy field in as tight as you can to your body.

See what that feels like.

This is something you can do anytime, anywhere. Just use a little effort and visualization and pull in your energy field.

This exercise is about intention.

Can we be sure that we’re manipulating the energy field?

Probably, not.

But can we set the intention that we’re bringing the energy field in nice and close to our bodies for the purpose of our own health?

Definitely.

We can and we should.

5. Simple Exercise for the Chakras.

Working with the chakras is the same as working with the energy field. It is all about intention. We are just setting the intention for our chakras to be at optimal health. The chakras are infinite and changing and are more complicated then we’re going to cognitively understand right at this moment.

But that is fine.

We don’t understand every aspect of yogic practice and we do our yoga practice anyways. Why do we do that? Because we know we feel better when we practice yoga.

This is the same with working with the chakras. When we send a mental intention to the chakras to spin we will see results and feel “better.” We will have more energy, be more able to focus and feel like the manifestation of the things we want in life are coming forth easier.

For this exercise I recommend lying on your back. But it isn’t necessary.

After we have connected with our breath and relaxed we start to envision first our root chakra. We picture it just below the groin and we give it some spinning motion. It could be a hoola hoop, a vortex, a tornado or a spinning orb, whatever, it is possible to visualize. We spend some time with the root chakra, maybe 2 to 5 minutes, really seeing if we can visualize the motion of it spinning. Then we move up to the other chakras, the sacral at the belly button, the solar plexus at the bottom of the rib cage, the heart in the center of the chest, the throat, the 6th chakra the the forehead and the 7th chakra over our heads.

Just moving through the chakras at your own pace, one at a time, setting the intention for chakra health and visualizing a spinning motion.

Is this the end all and be all of chakra health?

Nope, it ain’t.

But it’s an easy exercise each of us can do lying in bed, on the couch or during shavasana at yoga.

Will it work to improve chakra health?

Well, you won’t know unless you try it. I would recommend trying it about 3 or 4 times in order to be able to tell if it’s working for you, as it can take a few times to really get the feel for it.

Basically, we’re all important on this planet. We have important things to do and people to love and people to receive love from and the more we can be in optimal health the more we can really give our energy to our life purpose.

If working with our energy fields and chakras is going to provide an increased ability for each of us to do this, to feel healthy and energized, and able to really show up for our life, then I’m all for it.

Let me know how it all goes for you.

Much love,

Ruth
