There are many varied, yet strong opinions regarding guns.
Some people want to see guns regulated more carefully.
Other people will fight tooth and nail for their “right to bear arms.”
Those that strongly advocate for the right to own and carry firearms often claim “protection” or “safety” as the primary reason they want to possess these weapons.
Recently the organization States United To Prevent Gun Violence released the video below, intending to offer a bit of perspective for those who want to own and carry guns for “protection.”
As a social experiment, a used “gun store” was opened in New York City, and would-be gun shoppers were invited in to peruse the vast selection of firearms. Each gun on display included a tag which offered a bit of history about the gun’s previous owner, and hidden cameras were in place to capture people’s reactions as they learned the weapon’s history.
The motivation behind this social experiment is to debunk the myths regarding the use of guns for safety or protection.
It’s pretty interesting to see how people respond when they learn the history behind the gun they are considering buying.
“Every gun has a history. Let’s not repeat it.”
For anyone who feels guns should be regulated more carefully by requiring background checks on all gun sales, placing a ban on assault weapons, and limiting the capacity of ammunition magazines, we can sign the petition here.
