It’s not enough to say:
I’m an empath.
I’m sensitive.
I’m spiritual.
It’s not enough.
And, yes, it’s beautiful beyond belief to be empathic or sensitive or spiritual, but…
What the f*ck do those words really mean?
Because, at a certain point, they become flimsy, sparkly excuses to avoid looking any deeper.
They become things we say to deflect blame or run from personal responsibility.
They become meaningless.
Let’s be done with lovely, empty excuses.
Let’s stop avoiding the cold, hard and surprisingly delicious truth.
Let’s look a little deeper.
It’s time we asked more from ourselves.
F*ck, we need to ask more from ourselves.
We need to dive directly into our hearts and be so insanely honest that it hurts.
We need to shut up about positive thinking and get real about where we are, right now.
We need to sit down and get to know ourselves in ways that can’t be summed up in a single word or sticky label.
We need to learn how to be okay in silence, without Netflix or iPhones or glowing computer screens.
We need to see the messiness, the complexity, the beauty and pulsating pain that lurks deep inside.
We need to seek answers in the violent, salty seas of our souls rather than in other people’s opinions or what’s popular today.
We need to ask more from ourselves.
It’s not enough to skate on the shiny surface.
Our spirits constantly shout for more.
Let’s feed them.
It’s time to ask more
And do more
And see more
And seek more
And be more
Ourselves.
For.
F*cking.
Real.
